Letha’s Essential Home Improvements

Letha is a single mom living in the Harambee neighborhood of Milwaukee. Her home is a place of both comfort and ongoing improvement. Recently, she has been having some essential work done around the house to make it safer and more functional.

RM has been helping her with a variety of tasks, including installing a new light fixture in the kitchen stove area, updating a problematic laundry room breaker, repairing the upstairs front porch door with new windows and locks, realigning the front door, replacing the window and hardware on the rear storm door, and fixing plumbing issues in the downstairs bathroom including replacing the toilet’s internal mechanisms and unclogging the sink. Letha says RM is doing “great work” in her neighborhood.

Despite facing serious health challenges, including lung cancer and recovery from open-heart surgery, Letha describes her life as “fulfilling, rewarding, just life.” The most important part of her life is her two sons, though she has endured the profound loss of one of them three years ago.

Letha takes pride in her accomplishments, particularly earning her college degree in Human Services. Her advice to others reflects her compassionate nature: “Be nice to others, help others.”

Through all of life’s ups and downs, Letha’s story is one of resilience, love, and a commitment to making her home and her life a better place.
