About the Program: We are launching a new initiative dedicated to addressing critical home repairs that ensure safe, livable, and secure housing for low-income seniors, veterans and people living with disabilities. As we grow, we are building a dynamic and skilled team that’s passionate about making a direct impact in Milwaukee and Waukesha County.
Position Summary: The Construction Specialist will be a key member of our team, responsible for overseeing and managing of critical home repair projects—from initial assessments and scope development to contractor coordination and on-site quality control. This role requires exceptional organization, clear communication, and hands-on construction knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Scoping
Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate urgent home repair needs.
Develop detailed scopes of work, budgets, and timelines for each project.
Work with clients, contractors, and internal teams to define deliverables and priorities.
Logistics & Execution
Coordinate materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Schedule and manage all aspects of repair events, ensuring work meets safety and quality standards.
Maintain project documentation and tracking systems, including photos, permits, and work orders.
Contractor & Stakeholder Management
Source/book onboard qualified contractors and vendors.
Ensure contractors meet compliance, licensing, and insurance requirements.
Serve as the primary point of contact for homeowners, funders, and partners during project execution.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Perform inspections throughout the repair process to ensure high-quality workmanship.
Address any onsite issues promptly and professionally.
Ensure adherence to building codes, health and safety regulations, and program guidelines.
Required Qualifications:
Experience in construction management, residential remodeling, or home repair projects.
Strong knowledge of general contracting, scopes of work, building systems, and common home repair issues.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects, vendors, and timelines simultaneously.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and documentation.
Comfortable working in an evolving program environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Familiarity with project management tools, spreadsheets, and reporting software.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in non-profit housing repair, disaster recovery, or community-based construction.
OSHA 10/30 or similar safety certification.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Work Environment:
Field work required: frequent travel to job sites and client homes.
Some evenings or weekends may be required depending on project needs.
