Asthma Safe Homes PROGRAM
The Asthma Safe Homes Program is a program for families with children under age 18 and pregnant women who have uncontrolled asthma. “Uncontrolled asthma” is defined as taking frequent trips to the hospital or doctor or frequently missing work or school days. People who meet this qualification are referred to the Department of Health Services, Asthma Safe Homes Program Part A. In Part A, partner organizations provide in-home asthma education and durables such as HEPA Vacuums and mattress covers. Partners do an in-home assessment to determine if there are any pre-existing conditions in the home that could trigger asthma. In severe cases where asthma triggers persist, partners refer families to Revitalize Milwaukee where home repairs or modifications are then made.
