Paula’s Lead Abatement

Three generations share one home: a mother, her daughter, and her granddaughter. It is a place filled with love, routines, and the quiet responsibility of caring for one another across ages. Like many families, they didn’t always see the hidden risks around them but those risks were there.

Lead exposure doesn’t announce itself. It hides in walls, dust, and aging paint, affecting growing children, tired parents, and aging adults in different ways. For this family, lead abatement was more than a home repair it was a turning point. It meant knowing that the place where the granddaughter plays, where homework is done, and where meals are shared is safer for every generation under that roof.

Being invited to and attending Revitalize Milwaukee’s Project Joy 2025 reinforced that sense of care and community. It reminded them that they are not alone, that their health, their home, and their future matter. Lead abatement brought peace of mind to the grandmother, reassurance to the mother, and a healthier start for the youngest member of the family.

Today, their home isn’t just safer, it’s filled with renewed hope. Lead abatement protects not only walls and windows, but dreams, potential, and the promise of brighter, healthier years ahead for every generation that calls that house home.
